CURRENCY AND BANKS IN BULGARIA

Bulgarian Lev (BGL), equal to 100 stotinki. From July 1, 1997 Lev tightly pegged to the euro at a currency rate of 1.95 Lev for one euro.

Banks and CURRENCY EXCHANGE are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00, break-from 12.00 till 13.00. At weekends and on public holidays, banks are closed.

Currency exchange is performed in the exchange offices, (Change, Exchange), at banks or hotels. In resort areas also underestimate the rate of Exchange. Preference is given to euros or United States dollars.
