Traditions and holidays in Bulgarian include the ancient national, religious and family celebrations, as well as new practices introduced in the years of the Communist regime. Ancient folk traditions appear in clothing, jewelry, dancing, songs and magical rituals that accompany wedding ceremony, dancing on a burning down coals (nestinari), ceremonial presentation of Carnival (kukerskie game) and induce rain dance.

According to ethnographers, there are more than 10 thousand of the rites accompanying the holidays of the Bulgarians. These include caroling (24 December) and suvakari (on New Year’s Eve). In either case, the costumed young people go home, sing folk songs and perform folk dances, which the grateful owners give them different snacks.

One of the interesting tradition is fire dancing. It is a dance on heated coals of nestinarov-elected seers, soothsayers and healers.

The Carnival kukerov is a maskaradnoe parade, marking the beginning of spring (in the neighbourhood of the towns of Dupnitsa and Pernik) and "Trifon zarezan"-the cutting off the vines, with their abundant watering wine and noisy feast and martenitsa (1 March), in honour of which all Bulgarians pinned to their clothing white and red thread. In Georgiev day (6 May), esteemed breeders, all stalls, hives and pets are members of the Salicaceae family branches, and at dawn the cattle drove into the yard to the first Rosa gave her powerful health.
